What makes an extraordinary partnership? History? Experience? Confidence? The relationship with Novay holds these three key factors. But there is a lot more. Co-working, co-creation in projects, joint Research & Development and, since the beginning of 2012, we even share the same office building.

Spin-off

How did the partnership with Novay actually start? BiZZdesign originated in 2000 as a spin-off company from the Telematics Institute in the Netherlands. Telematics Institute had developed a prominent BPM research program. The successful outcome of this research program was at the basis of BiZZdesign’s start-up. The founders of BiZZdesign have all worked for the BPM research program of the Telematics Institute.

The Telematica Research Institute is nowadays called Novay. Novay is a successful research consulting firm, focused on ICT-driven innovation in business and governmental organizations.

Development of ArchiMate®

The development of ArchiMate® can definitely be named one of the main joint successes. In 2002 ArchiMate was developed by an industrial consortium under the lead of Novay. ArchiMate, which is now an Open Group Standard, is an open and independent modeling language that enables enterprise architects to describe, analyze and visualize the relationships among business domains in an unambiguous way.

Through the close cooperation with Novay on the development of ArchiMate and its role in the ArchiMate Forum board, BiZZdesign can be considered a founding father of ArchiMate.

Collaborative research

For BiZZdesign it is extremely important to deliver innovative solutions, based on the best techniques. Therefore, the connection with research institutes, universities and continuous interaction with client organizations are crucial. Novay plays an important role in that respect.

BiZZdesign and Novay perform collaborative research on the following areas:

  • Portfolio management
  • Agile service development
  • Enterprise model repositories
  • Enterprise risk and security management

Since the beginning of 2012, BiZZdesign and Novay are co-located in the same office buildings in the Netherlands. This makes it easier to perform research and to work on client’s projects together. Besides the partnership within client’s projects, BiZZdesign Academy also hosts trainers of Novay, in case of specific topics.
